Services: Carpet Cleaning Pretreat All carpet is sprayed first with pretreatment. Pretreatment is color-safe and its purpose is to loosen dirt. It performs much like a mild degreaser. Once applied, it is necessary to rinse with hot water. Otherwise, it will leave residue on the carpet. Hot Water Extraction Near boiling water is pumped through a dual-purpose wand into the carpet. This is true cleaning. The pretreatment, the hot water, and the motion of wand loosen dirt and debris. These sediments are then vacuumed out of the carpet, along with excess water. Citrus Citrus degreaser has several applications: paint, gum, oils, and grease. Its active ingredient thickens on contact with oily substances, drawing stains away from the carpet. This solvent is extremely useful on gum, though its design is to deal with grease and oil. Spot Removal Stains are obviously not uniform in nature. The primary concern in dealing with stains is their color. For example, red stain removal requires the following application: a two-part chemical, mixed on point of contact, is applied to stain, covered with wet rag, and finally steam ironed. The chemical, upon steaming, pulls the red dye into the rag, but out of the carpet! Re-Stretching Buckles that happen in carpet are direct effects from poor installation, water damage (water causes separation between carpet layers), weather damage, moving heavy furniture, and other factors. Poorly laid and loosened carpet can be fixed with power stretcher or a simple knee kicker (for smaller areas). Both devices are operated by bracing one part against an opposing wall (or into a board attached to the floor) then placing teeth into the carpeting (beyond the buckles). The device will restretch the carpet. Dyeing Carpet fades over time. Spills or high-volume areas can lead to color loss. Dyeing can put a matched color back into carpet. However, an area larger than 1 foot in diameter (basketball sized) should not be dyed, or the carpet will look dyed.
